Policy & Reservations
Forest Houses is for people who enjoy peace and quiet in this crowded world. Please help us keep it this way. Because of its small size, Forest Houses is not suitable for noisy, shouting adults or children. We do not accommodate loud parties, weddings, or groups larger than 10 people.
Please do not use your house as a daytime base for friends who are camping or staying elsewhere in the area. No more than the stated maximum number of people are to sleep in each house. Because of the narrow roads and overhanging roofs and trees, no campers, trailers, boats or other vehicles larger than a passenger vehicle are permitted. Please, no weapons, motorcycles, or off road vehicles. Bicycles are welcome. All plants, trees and wildlife are protected. We reserve the right to refuse reservations to those people who jeopardize the enjoyment of other guests through noise or lack of respect for them, the houses, their contents, or the environment.
Advance reservations are required. Office hours are 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. MST, daily. PLEASE CALL OUR OFFICE AT 928-282-2999 TO CHECK FOR AVAILABILITY OR TO MAKE A RESERVATION. E MAIL INQUIRIES SHOULD NOT BE USED TO CHECK AVAILABILITY.
Minimum stay is 2 nights for most of the year - except for a 4 night minimum stay required beginning Memorial Day weekend and continuing throughout the summer until Labor Day. A 4 night minimum stay also applies to the major holidays of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years.
Reservations are taken no more than one year in advance. A valid credit card number or deposit with personal check is required to hold and confirm your reservation. Reservations will be held 5 days pending receipt of deposit. Your deposit is refundable and your credit card not charged with a 21-day advance notice (30 days for holidays) - or if we are able to re-rent your house.
You are responsible and will be charged for all of the vacant portion of your reservation if we do not receive advance notice of cancellation. Please plan accordingly. No refund on shortened stays. No seasonal rates.
We do not provide handicap access, nor do we provide roll away beds or cribs.

We are closed after New Years until mid-March. Reservations can be made at this time for our open months. Please leave your inquiry, along with your choice of dates, on our voice mail message service and we will return your call as soon as possible. We must actually speak with you to book your reservation.
Only the person who made the reservation may cancel it and you must telephone us. We must actually speak with you in order to give you your unique cancellation number (if you leave a message, we will call you back). Cancellation by email is not acceptable. No reservation is cancelled without our issuing the cancellation number. Please remember that our cancellation deadline is 21 days prior to your arrival on all reservations except for the weekends associated with Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the last 2 weeks in December, including Christmas and New Years, when it is 30 days prior to your arrival.
Fourteen unique and secluded 1-5 bedroom houses and one apartment. Each house is in harmony with the surroundings – original designs built with native boulders and log beams – with fine views of Oak Creek or the surrounding forest. All houses have rock fireplaces or free-standing fireplaces, patios or decks, comfortable furnishings, full kitchens, and tub or shower baths. Most have king or queen beds. Linens, towels, kitchen utensils, firewood, and barbeque grills are provided.
There is one public telephone on the resort. However, there are no phones, no television and no computer/internet hookups in the houses. Your cell phone won't work here either.
These are housekeeping accommodations – except in an emergency, we will not go into your house while you are here. No maid service. Linens and towels are exchanged at the office as you need them.
Sleeping accommodations vary per house, however, no more than the stated maximum number (capacity) of people (over 2 years old) shall sleep in any house. This is strictly enforced.
Forest Houses Resort is a pet-friendly resort. Pets are welcome, but no more than 2. They must be closely supervised and leashed at all times to ensure the comfort and safety of other guests, pets, and wildlife. We ask you to be as responsible for your pet here at the resort as you would be at home. Pets are not to play or sleep on uncovered furniture and beds. You must bring sheets or coverlets to protect the furniture and beds. Sheets are available for a nominal charge from the office if you need them. Please do not leave your pet in the house unattended. If you cannot control your pet, large or small, please do not bring it. We ask you to post a refundable $20 deposit guaranteeing supervision of and cleaning up after your pet.
We are located deep in the woods and we share our place with some of the forest creatures: mice, spiders, lizards, birds, deer, raccoons, skunks and, when we’re lucky, a beaver or ring-tailed cat. Most of these animals stay in the woods, but sometimes a mouse or two, or some spiders come indoors. We do our best to keep them out or trap them when they come in, but if this closeness to the wilderness upsets you, please choose another location at which to spend your vacation. There is no extra charge for these critters and no refund will be given if you decide that their presence is unacceptable.
Please help keep Forest Houses and the surrounding nature clean. Leave behind no trace of your passing. This definitely includes cigarette butts. There are bags available from the office if you wish to help us pick up after someone less thoughtful than yourself. We are deeply committed to recycling and strongly support our local programs. Please help.
